Let's face it — I don't know anything about Wolverine or Hulk. I've never read a Wolverine comic in my life, and I only vaguely recall something about a guy who got angry and turned big from afternoon TV as a child. They simply never interested me.

And after having read this, they still don't interest me. I could not care less about this fellow with spikes that spring out of his knuckles, nor the guy who goes all big, dumb, and green at the drop of an injustice.

It is a credit to the creator, then, that I got through this comic at all. Nay, I even enjoyed it. I found out that Kieth was doing it and I had to check it out, see. And while I admit that I could not get involved in the characters, the writing led me forward — asked me to turn the page and keep reading. The puzzle to be solved was curious enough that I wanted to figure it out.

And the artwork is perfect Kieth. Either you like his style or you don't. I do. I adore his use of shadow and black, and also the combination of different styles of art that he uses in this comic. His sense of movement makes me pause and savor some pages (yes, even as the story called to me to turn the page.) Visually, it appealed to me.

So I feel quite conflicted. While I can't seem to get involved in the personal characters, I still need to read the story. How can that be? I'll have to get at least another issue or two.
