Credits Grade: 9 This volume of Sailor Moon contains the episodes that started it all. Luna finds Serena one day - the same day Queen Beryl and the Negaverse decide to attack Earth - and poof, she's Sailor Moon. But being the Champion of Justice is tougher than it sounds; cry-baby Serena must learn to be sure of herself and confident in her abilities before she can really help anyone. Thankfully for her, she has friends, like Sailor Mercury, who will stand by her side.Now come on, if that isn't the ultimate dream of many a girl, I don't know what is. It's realistic, in that she doesn't wake up one day a completely mature and sophisticated superhero; she wakes up the same whiny loser she's always been, with one exception. And besides the powers, she also gets the tall, dark, and mysterious Tuxedo Mask to save her when she gets in too deep. Many people complain about the dubbed version with its changed dialogue and whiney, annoying voices. However, if you've ever watched both the subbed and dubbed versions, you know that the story line remains the same, and that Serena's voice can be grating in either version. And even with all the crying, pouting, and tantrums, you will stay glued to the screen wondering how our heroine will save herself and her friends this time. She may not be the best student, but "she will never turn her back on her friends," and that makes her a powerful heroine. These first six episodes are not only the ultimate shoujo, but every young girls' dream. And the next best thing to being Sailor Moon, is watching Sailor Moon.
