Translator: Grade: 9 Nakahito stumbles across a beautiful young girl and accidentally activates her while the army attacks. Now she calls him Master and will listen to no one else, much to the frustration of her creator. She is Kurumi, a steel angel, and she is the perfect warrior with beauty and power all rolled into one. She must protect her Master while fighting the army who wants to use her and Saki, a second steel angel the army has acquired.
Steel Angel Kurumi is a very cute series with a matchingly cute theme song. Kurumi herself is very kawaii, but when she needs to be powerful, her foes better look out. However, Saki (who was also introduced on the DVD) is my favorite of the two. She's not quite as immature but just as infatuated with her activator. And, of course, she made the scene in style, kicking Kurumi's steel butt all over the shrine.
I found the Japanese seiyuu to better suit the characters than the American voice actors. Kurumi is a slightly immature, sweetly ignorant android, and her high and childish Japanese voice worked perfectly for it while the deeper, serious voice of the American completely contradicts her character. Nakahito's voice is likewise a little off in the American (voiced by a female) as it comes out deep and husky rather than sounding like the shy, young, innocent boy he is. However, I love the Japanese voices so much, I can overlook the American ones. They did begin to grow on me though, and I'm sure others may like them.
The six mini-episodes contained on this DVD are wonderful. There is also a ton of extras. Steel Angel Kurumi is a exceptional, romantic comedy. The art style is smooth and easy with BGM that matches quite well, especially with Kurumi's chibi scenes. There are so many good aspects, I can't list them all. However, I can say that Steel Angel Kurumi one cute anime that should not be missed!
