At the beginning of this volume, Naruto has managed to totally control the nine-tailed demon that resides in his body. He is still under the belief, though, that his mission is to do a survey of the island he is on. In reality, his friends and fellow ninjas have conspired to keep him hidden from the enemy, as they are in the midst of a great ninja war and Naruto must be protected at all costs. However, a spy within their midst has discovered Naruto's location, and now there is a scramble to protect Naruto but also keep him unaware.

This is by far the most exciting volume of Naruto I've read. Even after over fifty volumes, Naruto is still exceptionally strong with plot, action and characterization, none of which get short shrift here. I was glued to each panel, eagerly turning to the next page to see what happens. While some of the action panels were difficult to decipher, it doesn't detract much at all from the story.

An extremely good volume that is a thrill from start to finish.
