The Allied Shinobi Forces are battling Kabuto's reanimated ninja soldiers. Members of the Forces find themselves locked in battle with not only legendary ninjas from history, but also fighting their own late mentors and allies.

This particular volume is almost all action, with some explanation of the Allied Forces strategies. Naruto barely appears here, and then only to start cottoning on to the deception being played on him. The main conflict appears to be battling Naruto himself and not Kabuto's forces.

What I like about Naruto is that mental and emotional battles are waged as much as physical ones. And it's not just the ninja warriors who experience conflicting emotions, but their resurrected enemies, who don't always bend to Kabuto's commands.

I also like how the battle with the resurrected villains, the Gold and Silver brothers, was more about outwitting them than beating them physically.

Naruto fans will be disappointed that Naruto features little in this, although he definitely knows something is up and will sure do something about that. Naruto can be as difficult to deal with as the enemy.
