Caimen rescues Nikaido thanks to some unusual help, and now they're on the run until they find a way to make her permanently severed from En.

Dorohedoro is like no other manga or comic I've read. It's a dark and twisted world where sorcerers have all the power, influence and prosperity. Normal humans live as best they can and try to avoid being killed or experimented on by sorcerers. The sorcerers also wear freaky masks that heighten their powers, which adds to the creepiness of the art. Picture bands like Slipknot or GWAR, add muscle, bloodlust, madness and unquestioned power. Scary huh? Q Hayashida's art is a lot to take in the first time you see it, and is part of what makes this story so unique. After a couple volumes, I can tell the characters apart better and have a pretty complete grasp of the situation and world. It's bloody and gritty, and the black, white and gray coloring works very well to provide detail.

This volume in particular is really good. Caimen crossdresses, which is funny in and of itself. He's also dealing with some issues about the fact that his best friend is a sorcerer, and a sorcerer is the one who cursed him. Caimen and Nikaido fight since she's been forcibly brainwashed by the magic contract with En. Chota finds a way to help himself by helping Nikaido, and this creates a twist I definitely did not see coming. I can't wait to see the outcome of these actions when En finds out! More battling ensues as Nikaido's other friends try to free her on their own, which pulls two sorcerers into the mix. The next volume is sure to be just as action-packed as this one.
