Lydia and Edgar return to London and keep working together. Lady Rosalie, a girl jealous of Lydia's close association to Edgar, is tricked into using a bogey-beast, but she doesn't realize she's the one being used. Things get interesting as Lydia learns something about Edgar's past that's also tied to Rosalie, but in a tragic way. Lydia's in trouble again, this time when Rosalie locks her up!

I don't like Rosalie at all. I know we're not meant to, but I really can't stand characters like her. She's a stuck-up brat that thinks she's better than everyone one else, especially when it comes to other girls in any relation with Edgar. She even turned on her own sister! I don't feel sorry for her knowing that she's being used because she herself is using the bogey-beast to try to hurt Lydia. In fact, I hope she gets what's coming to her, though I bet the story will turn so that she's saved by the one she wants to hurt -- Lydia. This volume is full of lots of angst centered around this trio, especially as Edgar continues to tease Lydia. Like her, I wish I could tell what he's really thinking. Of course, there are supernatural things going on as well, other than the inclusion of the bogey-beast. A mysterious Fogman strikes fear into the locals, especially when a young girl disappears.

You can read this volume without reading the first two, as it starts a new arc. However, the first two volumes set up the relationship between Lydia and Edgar and give a lot of information about both of them. This volume is heavier on the shojo aspects than the first two. I appreciate this volume, but the drama's a bit much for my tastes. I hope the next volume gets more into the supernatural than petty romantic squabbles.
