Mara and her brother Willy have another Sandwalk afternoon with Darwin and they learn about the theories behind "survival of the fittest" and how it affects evolution. Then Mara goes back to the rest of the family and ... embellishes the story a bit to make it more interesting to her siblings.

The Sandwalk Adventures continues to educate while sharing a good bit of humor as well. Hosler is so good at combining information and facts into his story in a way that is interesting to read. He also manages to write two levels of story — one for children and one for adults.

And while at first the art may seem simple and cute, a closer look reveals a great deal of line work and shading where appropriate. I've not seen anyone more skilled at expressing the body language of follicle mites, and Hosler had a great time this issue with the fellow on the cover.

Whether you are interested in learning more about Charles Darwin, or are looking for a nice story to share with a child in your life, or even just want to read something different and interesting, check out The Sandwalk Adventures.
