One of the things I really like about this second issue is that it shows that Alex really is just an average guy. Instead of thinking big, he's just excited on secretly doing better at his current job. He does decide to use his powers for a personal reason, but even when that involves superheroes he still thinks small. He even sees news about a new robot villain and it doesn't even register that he could do something about it. As well as liking how this portrayal is done, I also find it a little frustrating. I also have no idea why a moth supervillain suddenly becomes interested in him.
Overall the art is good. The "supers" designs pop more. Everyone's expressions always seem so angry, even when they aren't supposed to be angry (like when the lady from his office is asking for help with her laptop). The artist does anger / resentment / bitterness very well, but the other emotions don't change enough from that base. Surprise / shock is the only other emotion that stands out, and sometimes that looks angry.
Like issue #1, this issue is enjoyable but doesn't grab me. At this point I'm curious about The Moth, but, honestly, if I wasn't reading review copies, I would not be inclined to find and pay $3.99 for more issues (or even for this one).
