Credits Writer: Chris Charlton Penciler: Rowel Roque Inker: Rowel Roque Colorist: Anthonie Wilson Letterer: Brant W Fowler Cover Artist: David Hollenbach Grade: 6 Alex is rescued by The Virtue (a group of superheroes), who want to know why The Agency is after him. Alex's digital digging in the last issue came across project Balthazar, which has to do with experimentation on humans / superhumans; this put him on The Agency's hit-list. Will he be able to work with The Virtue or just see them as a tool as he blunders down his own path?
The Moth is very much like Beast (X-Men) in that he is the least human-looking and is the scientist of the group. I'm not sure why Dash needs a mask; she's a leopard-woman readily identify-able. Wing has a neat design, but I wonder why / how he can transform in such a radical way while others can't. Both Wing and Dash have some nice punk elements to their designs. Miss Devine, the lady running The Agency, has a panel where she is very exaggerated with qualities both cat-like and skeletal. It makes me wonder if she's not 100% human herself.
I like that the story has gotten much more involved. There's still a big part that's Alex's personal vendetta. It's tied together, but I'm liking Alex less and less. Even after meeting these heroes in their secret base he's still selfish and naïve. He is in some serious trouble, and he keeps pushing forward into more, even at the risk of losing his new allies. His power will prove useful, but it's really not as cool as the others we're seeing.
This series is continuing to improve, but I would appreciate it more as a graphic novel where I could read more at one time than spreading my reading time and money over several issues.
