I'm not really one for black humor. I read the intro bits and character descriptions and instantly realized I wasn't going to like this. That being said, I can appreciate that this comic is well done. If you're easily offended, you'll want to steer clear and probably not even bother reading this review. The comic is full of bigotry and harmful stereotypes, with art and characters very much like caricatures. The only reason I opened this comic beyond the cover is because I was intrigued by Todd, who is so ugly he wears a paper bag on his head all the time; the rest of the cover was a huge turn-off for me. Todd is a weird character, but I like the fact that he's hidden behind the bag, which seems like his head rather than a bag on his head (reminding me of the Oblongs). He's also simple and naive in an over-exaggerated way. The story flows easily despite jumping around, and it was easy to follow without reading the first three issues (thanks in part to the "story thus far" at the beginning). There's a lot going on in this issue, too. The caricature characters, as horrible as they are (as people), seem real and fleshed-out, even if their roles are small.
I can't really support this comic or suggest that others check it out due to its nature, and it's not something that I will read more of. It would be hypocritical of anyone to buy and enjoy this comic who would also be outraged at bullying, affairs, Nazis, abuse, etc. or anyone that holds a religious belief (Buddha is the target in this issue). Rather than being funny, the things in this comic are hurtful. Because of that, I can't in good conscience give this a positive score.
