I actually enjoyed it, despite its extremism (the extremism is what makes it interesting). I am pleasantly surprised by the angle and approach this story takes. However, those who are more liberal-minded will probably not enjoy it and / or use it as another reason to hate non-liberals. The timeline of events starts in 2014, with Obama as president. At first, I was surprised at it being set in such a near and specific future, but it made more sense as the story unfolds, revealing Obama to be president and some of the topics it works in. The American Reclamation Front has a time machine they use to send nuclear bombs into the unspecified-but-immediate future in unannounced American cities unless their political demands are met, which includes bringing all our troops home and Obama and his cabinet stepping down from their posts. There's a lot of stuff in here that is relatable to things going on right now. It's a heavy read that comes off as much lighter thanks to how it's written and the science fiction element: the time machine.
The art and coloring are well done. It's expressive with a lot of energy, and the character designs are diverse and realistic. While I wouldn't say it's racially diverse, there is a nice balance of white and black characters in all types of roles. I love how this issue ends, leading right into the next issue. It's a conclusion and a cliffhanger, and I'm definitely left wanting to read more and find out what happens next!
