ISBN: 978-1-4215-5564-5 Grade: 6 This 3-in-1 edition contains the first three volumes of Dragonball. Goku helps Bulma look for dragonballs after which trains with Kururin under Kame-Sen'nin.
This series has been around a long time and has many released versions, so I'm not going to spend time reviewing the series (which I love). The 3-in-1 costs $14.99 and is the same height as the majority of manga released in North America. The quality of the paper is very poor compared to the average manga or book in general. You can literally see through the pages to see the image on the other side, especially if there's lots of black on the page. Compared to buying the individual volumes, it does save on space and price (if bought for retail price). However, Viz also has their VizBig editions which also compile three volumes at a time of this same series, and those editions are larger with good quality paper, including some color images, for only three dollars more. This volume claims to be "uncut and uncensored." I don't sit here comparing my various versions, but it is marked for "teen" and includes some uncensored nudity of both Goku and Bulma. I have a hard time believing that it's 100% uncensored, though, and there are many, many reviews out there that say that both versions are censored.
If you're on a budget and aren't necessarily looking to have a nice copy for a collection, this is not a bad way to read it. However, I will save my money for the VizBig versions.
