The plague continues to spread. Hospitals and scientists try to cope and understand.

Note: I've not read the first two issues, so I'm jumping in midstream.

Zombie stories are not my favorites. However, I appreciate when creators try to present a zombie outbreak realistically. Final Plague does just that. Not only is it done fairly realistically, but it's well done. I like that it portrays both "real world" and laboratory settings. There's even a bit of "scientific" explanation that's at least plausible. They describe a difference at a cellular level between how it affects rats and humans, which helps add to the realism, as well as differences between how humans react. I also like that the personalities and reactions of people are believable. All that being said, this is definitely a horror story with plenty of blood and violence; it just has actual substance.

The deer is awesome. I love evil / deranged / zombie deer. Great death scene. I loved the cover from the moment I saw it, but it's even better after the deer scene. It's especially nice since the hunters in the truck are idiotic assholes.

The art, while not my favorite or something I would want to see in general, works exceptionally well for a zombie story. It's like fleshed-out (no pun intended) sketches in heavy black ink with watercolors. On two occasions the watercolors made the people look like clowns, but overall the coloring helped shape the scenes. I like that it's more watercolor than typical block coloring with shading.

If you love zombie stories, you'd be doing yourself and your fandom a disservice by not reading this. While providing all the aspects we come to associate with the modern-day zombie story, it still feels unique. Maybe that's because it's only issue #3 ... or maybe it's the rats .....
