Credits Creators: Justin Case Grade: 5 A Victorian grave robber tells his dog about the fate of someone said robber has dug up. Whether the man has an actual psychic ability to see the circumstances of a person's death, power or he's just making up a story based on what he finds in the grave, I'm not sure. He tells of a married couple and their unfortunate encounter with a fortune-telling machine: whether this machine will be featured in other stories remains to be seen. As it stands, the story of the couple is not complete, but rather will continue in the next issue.
The art is an interesting approach, all made of silhouettes, like shadow-puppetry. Unfortunately, as there are only up to three panels per page, it's a rather quick read -- there's not much here to tell how good of an initial story it will be, much less a series. There's enough negative space that I think that they could have made the type a tad bigger proportionately, and, using a landscape layout, run two sets of panels per page by shrinking them a bit, and put the second issue in here as well, to have one complete story for the first issue. As it is, my interest is piqued, but only just.
