Credits Grade: 7 Age of Bronze is a sequential art retelling of the Trojan War. In Part 2, the real action of the war begins.In all honesty, you have to either be a huge fan of The Iliad or be in a position to need to read The Iliad to get the most out of this. As neither, I find the story tedious and overly drawn-out, which does affect the grade of the review (even though it's not an original story of the creator). If you're the former, it's a wonderful visualization; the art is amazingly detailed. Most of the action, body mechanics, and facial expressions are very well done, but they do occasional fall flat or come off as stiff. The art is one of the best features of this book (keeping the grade of this review as "above average"), and definitely makes this one for the library if you're a fan of the story. The creator captures the look and feel of the story, setting, and characters, and the details (including backgrounds) makes everything pop. There's also a lengthy bibliography, showing that the creator has done his homework. If you're the latter, it will possibly be a more enjoyable and / or quicker read -- I say possibly because Part 2 is 176 pages. Within that page count is 7 pages of "Story thus far" with its own recapped illustrations (which seems a bit excessive), and 20 or so pages of glossary, maps, lineage, bibliography, etc. The book is in black and white and comes in both softback ($18.99) and hardback ($28.99). It is scheduled to be released this November; perfect timing for a holiday gift. Written: October 30, 2013
