Gabe's dad joins them on the run. Mindwolf and EMP disobey orders to do what's right and help Gabe. The Alchemist unleashes the Robeartopus (robot / bear / octopus).

The Robeartopus is as awesome as it sounds. However, the fight scene is very anticlimactic. While it's not a bad ending to the fight, it was a sudden and simple end that let me down a bit. That being said, I do like how it was depicted in the art! On the other hand, I really appreciate the anticlimactic location of Gabe's dad's lab. I also really like seeing Mindwolf in her werewolf more, as well as using her powers, and it confirms that she can do both at once. What she does to that one soldier is just horrible, though she could easily have done a lot worse damage to him.

Some unexpected things happen in the plot progression, stemming from Gabe finally meeting his dad, who does not look as old as I expected. There's also a little more history of when his dad met his mom on a parallel Earth in a different universe, which is nice, but doesn't seem interesting or important at this point. I'm not sure whether I like or trust Gabe's dad; of course, I also distrust Mindwolf despite what seems to be a good moral compass. Relationships are a lot more complex than they initially seem, which is pleasantly realistic, but I wish it didn't feel like they were skimming the surface so much.

Overall, this isn't my favorite issue, but there is both action and story development. I'm curious where the story's going; it seems to be losing me a bit as it evolves beyond the original (or seemingly original) plot. Maybe it's just that this issue tries to do too much, so there's not enough humor, action, or plot development to really satisfy.
