"Our Gabe" is still in another world, talking with his dad. Another Gabe and Whispers help Veronica / Mind Wolf out of a tough spot, while trying to explain multiple universes. I got a big Sliders vibe.

The opening panel is perfect! What an attention-grabber! In fact, the whole first page is great with the torture and mindgames. And I love the expressions of both women at the top of page three! So expressive! And the lines on Dominika's face provide a nice, sharp contrast for her features. There's a lot more foul language than the earlier issues, which comes off as unnecessary, tossed in because they can rather than because it fits. Even Whispers is swearing, though I must admit I like his machine gun shoulder mounted to Gabe, and his bionic parts (in one version). The lollipop scene is also awesome in its own way. I love the posture of the Gabe-launching-Whispers panel, too. The gore is well done, making this a good splatter comic.

I'm so glad they mention what the helmets are for early on, because I was definitely wondering, and I love how Veronica / Mind Wolf gets around her captivity. However, the posture of her falling down is bad -- bad in the "I'm going to twist the female form to sexualize it for the male gaze" way. Given what she did just prior to that, I'm actually OK with the logic for her upper body, but the lower body is opposite what it should be. Then I came to the clown-monkey penis panel. I really did not need to see that. And why is a bodysuit separating penis from balls anyway? Nevermind; don't answer that.

There's actually a lot going on between both versions of Gabe and the strange dream he has. It's handled well enough so that by the last third of the issue I know what's going on, but it's not the strongest issue of the series partially due to mitigating the jumping around and necessary explanations. The best part of this issue is easily the "other" Gabe and Whispers and the splatterfest they create. I also like that Mind Wolf is able to fight the drugs long enough to escape to a point, and her interactions with "other" Gabe definitely don't paint her as a damsel. I hope the next issue has a bit more direction.
