As Detective Billy Altar faces down the serial killer Hostile, we gain insight into their pasts (which, alas, includes fridging), and learn what Hostile means about Brimstone being an imposter (Spoiler: apparently he means Brimstone was going to impersonate his mother, to try to trick him into coming home, even though we saw no such thing happen.)

While it's nice to get to know Altar better, we still don't really know much about Brimstone, the titular character, other than that he's got a sense of humour, and the Borderhounds are, oddly, absent from the fight. (Can't they cross over with Brim?) The fight is a little awkward-looking, but I'm intrigued to see Brim is apparently super-strong. Revelations about Hostile -- his thinking, his past (though just a glimpse), and his relationship with Hell -- are the most interesting part of the issue, but I am intrigued by a development about Billy's own relationship with the place. Why did he go there? Having a three-way confrontation is good too. The issue ends on quite a cliffhanger!
