Credits Grade: 3 Puchimas is about a group of girls working at a talent agency called 765Pro. Each girl is an Idol. In the first episode, one of the Idols brings to work a little doll-like girl, called a puchimas, that is just a miniature version of herself.Pretty much the entire season is composed of approximately 10 minute episodes where a new puchimas is introduced and is adopted by the Idol they resemble. Most of the puchimas has some quirk associated with them. One replicates when doused with water, monsters appear when a particular puchimas cries, and another can teleport. There is no explanation of what the puchimas are or why they exist. Some puchimas are found on the street, others seem to just appear at the 765Pro offices. They get into hijinks of one sort of another and that is it for plot, aside from some odd story about a deserted island that has a shrine built too look like one of the puchimas. No explanation is given. I flat out didn't like this anime. There was only one episode out of the 23 in this first season that even came close to entertaining me, and it was about two puchimas who get their respective hair hopelessly entangled. I found the puchimas barely tolerable and the Idols mostly uninteresting. Plot and characterization is entirely missing, and the quirks of the puchimas don't count as characterization. The lone male character in this anime the most absurd I've seen. He is called simply the Producer, and his head is just a large letter P, with the rest of the body being normal. The only reason I can think of for doing this is to minimize the male presence in this anime, since all the Idols are girls and there is no male puchimas. I would not recommend this to anyone, regardless of age. If you must watch this, just look for clips online, so you don't waste money on a DVD. Written: June 20, 2015
