This issue is very simple, but it's also great in so many ways. I love Kate's wall of weaponry and how truly happy she looks to be pulling them out of hiding. Her comment of "Hi, babies. Come to mama." provides some much needed insight into her personality. Seeing her lug two giant duffle bags of guns and ammo is also nice, as is the way she forcefully gets them into the car (the "wham" panel deserves every bit of attention it gets) with a comment of "just be glad the freaking grenades didn't go off." We also learn why Joe finds a certain dreamer so comforting, and the insight is chilling! I enjoyed the humor in the ways the Dream Police look for their own -- Magic 8 Balls, Ouija, karmic wave patterns in water. There's even humor in the way Joe and Kate disconnect from the chief ... using the car's windshield wipers. More humor with the Dream Police and their various transportation and Joe's comment about the kitchen sink. My favorite part (with Kate's wall of weapons a close second) is the dragon; it's unexpected and full of joy and fierceness.
I'm very excited by this issue and how it's totally serious but still has so much fun!
