The Peanuts Movie is based upon the long running comic strip by Charles Schulz and focuses on the ups and downs of Charlie Brown, his extend group of friends, and his unusual dog, Snoopy.

Fans of the comic will instantly find everything familiar, the famed kite-eating tree, Snoopy's battle with the Red Baron, and Charlie's quest to talk to the Little Red-Haired Girl.

The movie truly looks fantastic; the animation is bright and soft on the edges, smooth and very beautiful to look at, and yet perfectly echoes the comic strip itself and the earlier cartoons. The emotions of the character are extremely easy to see and the voices are just about perfect. This pressed all my nostalgia buttons without leaving me feeling that I was looking back at days gone by.

Charlie Brown is the heart of the movie, but Snoopy was clearly the engine. His flights of fantasy with the Red Baron throughout the movie could easily stand on its own. However, that also left pretty much the rest of the characters with not much to do. The characters of Linus, Lucy, Marcie, and Peppermint Patty got some focus, but all in relation to Charlie. Given that lot of the antics that happen in the comics don't involve Charlie himself, I think this was a missed opportunity by the creators.

Nevertheless, this is absolutely a must see for anyone with fondness for Peanuts.
