Goldie has grown up at Crossed Palms Resort. Her job is valet, but her passion is solving mysteries!

This comic is so great! Having it set in a resort provides a lot of opportunities for cases and other adventures, as well as a varied cast. I love that Goldie is a POC, and that her dad owns the resort. I like her spunk and go-getter attitude, and how she thinks outside the box and enjoys helping others. What I don't like is that she used a guest's car in a drag race and bet the car's pink slip -- all without the guest knowing! Yes, it makes for a really good action scene (and I like that she knows how to handle a fancy car on that terrain), but just because she won doesn't make it okay! Goldie doesn't even seem to feel guilty about abusing her job and causing strain (at least) on a vehicle that belonged to someone else that she stole for a while (stole, not borrowed, as she didn't ask permission and it's against the rules of her job). She didn't even seem worried about the consequences if she lost the race. Confidence is one thing, but she's asking for trouble. My favorite part about the race was that Skunk took losing so well and genuinely admired Goldie.

The comic has several nostalgic qualities. It seems kind of like a really modern Nancy Drew. The drag race, especially in the car she uses and against Skunk, reminds me more of Grease. The lack of technology (like a cell phone of any kind) also makes the time setting ambiguous, but I'm not complaining on that point. I love the art; it has an Archie Comics look and feel to it, including the fashion.

I will definitely be checking out issue #2 of 4, and possibly the whole series. It's a quick, fun read that is so far for all-ages enjoyment.
